The San Jose Jr. Sharks are proud to announce that defensemen Luke Robinson has been drafted in the USHL Phase 1 draft by the Des Moines Buccaneers. Robinson was the second pick in the 9th round.
Robinson, 6'2 175, played a crucial role on the Jr. Sharks 16AAA National Team last season, leading the defense in goals (4) and points (23).
The USHL Phase 1 draft is 10 rounds and only first year Midget players are eligible to be drafted. This year, 2000 birth year players were eligible, next year 2001 players will be eligible.
The USHL Phase II draft starts tomorrow at 8 PM CST. More Jr. Sharks players are expected to see their names called.
Des Moines is currently the home of former Jr. Sharks coach Nate Weossner. Nate serves as the primary Assistant Coach to HC Dave Allison.
