The Jr Sharks are proud to announce that former Jr Sharks forward, Colleen Castro, has committed to play for the Wesleyan University Cardinals starting in the fall. Wesleyan is an NCAA Division III school in Middletown, CT, that competes in the NESCAC division. Castro is currently spending her senior year playing at the Canadian International Hockey Academy, which competes in the Junior Women's Hockey League. Castro served as captain and alternate captain during her three seasons with the Jr Sharks under the head coaching of Amanda and Bobby Long.
"The Jr. Sharks coaches, trainers and staff have all been instrumental in my development as a player and a person and I cannot thank them enough. As I move on to college hockey, I will never forget the memories I've made growing up in the Jr. Sharks program," said Castro.
Wesleyan University is also home to another former Jr Shark, Theo Tydingco, a '93 birth year defenseman for the Cardinals men's team.
