On Sunday, April 24th, Sierra Donahue, a member of the 2015-16 Jr. Sharks Girls 16AAA team was awarded the 2016 Abby Leslie Memorial Award. The Abby Leslie Memorial Award is presented annually to a Jr. Sharks Girls player who best exemplifies all the qualities that Abby Leslie encompassed. Abby was Jr. Shark Girls 12U player who was diagnosed with, and eventually succumbed to, an aggressive brain tumor, in April of 2008. According to Abby's mom, Theresa Leslie, Abby may not have been the best player on her team, but she always came ready to give 100% and support her teammates, always with the brightest smile on her face. Sierra Donahue was nominated this season, by her coach Bobby Long and selected by the Jr. Sharks Leadership, as epitomizing everything that Abby represented. Other 2016 Nominees included: Alex Gravink (8U), Aiden Levee-Oshiro (10U), Jazmine Martineau (12U-1), Bayley Reger (12U-2), Isabella Arreola (14AA), Allison Mangano (14U-2), and Kaitlyn Zaballos (19U). Congratulations nominees and our winner, Sierra!
