Jr Sharks Alumnus Tyson McLellan Commits to University of Connecticut NCAA D1

Another Jr Shark Will Be Playing NCAA DI Hockey

The San Jose Jr. Sharks are proud to announce that Tyson McLellan has committed to the University of Connecticut. 

Tyson played his youth hockey with the Jr. Sharks from Pee Wee A up through 16AAA. In the 2012-13 season, Tyson helped the Jr. Sharks 16AAA squad to a NAPHL record of 17-4-1. He also finished second in the NAPHL in scoring with 17 goals and 25 assists. As a result of his stellar play, Tyson was selected in the 8th round of the 2013 USHL Draft by the Waterloo Blackhawks. The USHL is the premier Tier 1 Junior A Hockey League in the United States.

"The Jr. Sharks organization was a huge part of my development and success. There are a lot of people there who helped me come a long way in the past few years," said McLellan.

Thus far, Tyson has 4 goals and 5 assists in 42 games played. The Waterloo Blackhawks currently hold the the second best record in the USHL with a 39-11-5 record. Waterloo is also the junior hockey home for San Jose Sharks standout, Joe Pavelski.

The Jr. Sharks would like to congratulate Tyson and his family on his recent commitment and wish him the best of luck! Tyson will be joining the University of Connecticut Huskies in either 2015 or 2016.
