San Jose Jr Sharks

The 18U AAA Jr. Sharks Boys team is CAHA State Champions!

Led by Coach Evan Alexius, the 18AAA team captured the first 18AAA State Championship since 2011. After defeating the Jr. Reign 10-0 in game 1, the Sharks faced off against the Jr. Ducks in the double elimination tournament, in game 2. A strong goaltendiing performance and timely goals, the Sharks skated away with a 2-1 victory. The Jr. Ducks advanced to the Championship game later Saturday night after they beat the Jr. Reign, setting up a rematch in the Championship game.

The Jr. Ducks held a 1-0 lead most of the game until early in the third period when the Jr. Sharks were able to break through. Later in the period, the Jr. Sharks would make it 2-1 and eventually 3-1 on a 5-minute major Power Play. They would seal the game with an empty-netter to capture a 4-1 win. With the win, the 18AAA team will advance to the Pacific District Championship in March with the hopes of earning a birth at USA Hockey Nationals.

Joining the 18AAA team in Tacoma, WA for the Pacific District Championships will be the 16UAAA, 15O AAA and 14UAAA teams. All 3 teams earned a birth by making the Championship and despite winning, will play for a chance to go to USA Hockey Nationals.

The 16AAA team dropped the Championship game 5-4 in Triple OT vs the Jr. Kings, the 15O AAA dropped the Championship 3-1 vs the Jr. Ducks and the 14AAA team lost 3-2 vs the Jr. Kings.
