CAHA Screening Program

NOTE: As of March 1, 2018, CAHA's screening vendor is now NCSI. All participants with a current screening under the previous vendor are still valid, as shown on the Screening Compliance List.
Background Screening: All coaches, on-ice officials and volunteers (over the age of 18) are required to complete a background screening. The CAHA Screening Policy can be accessed here - CAHA Screening Policy 03-01-18.pdf
INSTRUCTION TO COMPLETE THE BACKGROUND SCREENING PROCESS:
- Go to www.ncsisafe.com
- Click on the box that says "Start Your Background Screening Now"
- Volunteers and Coaches enter CAHA's "Self Registration Number": 59376361
- Officials enter "Official's Self Registration Number": 76783571
- Enter the information

NCSI will contact you directly if there are any questions, problems or issues related to your specific information. An email address is required when completing the background check as this is an electronic screening process.

If you have any questions or problems submitting your information, please emailapplicantservices@ncsisafe.com or call NCSI at (440) 542-9833, or toll free (866) 833-7100.

Once you have submitted your information you will receive an email confirmation page with a 16-digit Applicant ID Number. A routine background check will normally take up to 10 business days to complete. You may check your status on at www.ncsisafe.com, using the "Check Your Background Screening Status" option.

Notes and Helpful Information:
- Volunteers and officials under the age of 18 do not complete a background screen.
- Applicants are responsible for assuming the entire cost of a background screening. If an applicant has lived in multiple states or countries, the cost could be considerable. No costs associated with a background screening are waived or paid by CAHA, under any circumstances.
- The screening process can take time. There is no way to rush a screening. The complexity of an applicant's screen (multiple names, nicknames, multiple addresses, international addresses, errors on addresses or birth dates) can cause considerable delays in a screening. The NCSI system has an I.D. upload feature, which can considerably speed up the screening process.
- Applicants must screen with their legal names as stated on a drivers license or passport. The system will prompt for this.
- Applicants MUST register with USA Hockey for the upcoming or current before completing a screen. A process change within the USA Hockey database now requires a USA Hockey membership registration number for all screening applicants.
- The participant's name on the screening and the USA Hockey membership must match. The system no longer allows for manual entry changes of participant names. Any participant who screens or registers with USA Hockey under a different name will be responsible for contacting the appropriate parties to make any necessary corrections. Any delays caused by a name correction process will be born solely by the applicant and will result in non-participation until resolved.
- There is NO waiver for participation in any capacity without a successful screening result, under any circumstances.
