2012 MLK Girls/Women's Invitational - USAH Sanction V-15-11
For the ninth year, the San Jose Jr. Sharks Hockey Club invites you to a weekend of top-notch competition. Teams from all over the USA and Canada have participated in this fun filled tournament in the past years. Teams are guaranteed 4 games plus a possible championship game.
This tournament is basically a "AAA" and "AA" tournament for the Girls 12 and older. The Women's Sr. "C" is the level of USA Hockey National Bound teams where Sr. "D" is Recreational.
A limited number of games will start on Friday after 7:00pm.

These rates can only be obtained by using the online system (preferred) or by phoning, faxing, or mailing the appropriate reservation form to Team San Jose. Please note: the 2012 MLK Invitational Tournament is a MANDATORY STAY at HOST HOTELS for all teams outside the Bay Area. You must make your reservation through the Team San Jose Housing. Sharks Ice Waivers
"Sharks Ice Waivers are required for all players, coaches, and managers, even though your team may have previously signed the waivers for the 2011-12 season. Please prepare a new waiver for each coach, manager, and player. Indicate "2012 MLK" as the event. Go to link in "Registration" to download the Waiver form.
Game Schedule/Results
We have a Real Time Online Game Scoring System, called Time-To-Score (TTS), which was developed at Sharks Ice. You can follow action by clicking on the Game Number once the game has started. The game results are updated at each stoppage. You can also download the scoresheet for printing at the end of the game.
The entire schedule can be read by clicking on the "MLK". Team schedule is available by clicking on your "Team Name", The Division Schedule is not available for this tournament.
Vendors
Videographer - Black Dog Enterprises - This is a new vendor that has contracted with Sharks Ice to all the video work for the Jr. Sharks Tournaments.
2012 MLK Logo Exclusive Sports Clothing - NW Designs of California - Rick has been working the MLK Tournament for many years providing on-site logo and monogrammed designed sports clothing.
Photographer - HockeyShots - Allen & Tim have with MLK for many years shooting the games and providing the sale of various photo packages to teams that prearrange for their services.
Application
Applications must be made online through the link provided under Registration. Please Note: The Primary Contact should be the Team Manager, or the person that will be personally responsible for getting all the information submitted, getting the Sharks Ice Waivers signed by the parents/guardians, and following through with the credit card payment of the tournament fee. Deadline is Nov. 15, 2011. The 2012 MLK is now full and is not accepting any new applications (11/9/11)
Registration & Rosters
Once your application has been received, you will receive a token within 72 hours via email of your team's conditional acceptance at which time you will given directions on how to make your online credit card payment, continue with your registration, enter your roster and submit your 5"x7" color team photo and team logo. Please do this as early as possible. You can update your roster at anytime before the deadline. Final Rosters must be entered online by Dec. 15, 2011. Any incidental changes after Dec. 15, 2011 must be submitted by email to both the Tournament Director and Tournament Chair.
Note: Click on the Sharks Ice Payment link here to pay by credit card starting Sep. 15, 2011. Deadline for payment is Dec 1, 2011. Hotels
Hotel reservations must be made through Team San Jose Housing website. Click here 2012 MLK Online Hotel Reservation Link to make your Hotel Reservations. Reserve early to get a better choice of hotels, be it price, location or star rating.
New this year, teams that book 10 paid rooms in the same hotel will be offered a complimentary room for the head coach. It is paramount that managers/guests enter the FULL proper team name (Alaska Wolves Midget 16AAA) in the "Company" field for all bookings if teams want to take advantage of the offer. The complimentary room will still need the input of a credit card number. Head Coach and Manager description needs to be entered in the "TITLE" fields respectively. It is advised that Team Managers book the rooms for the entire team to assure rooms are accredited to the team grouping.

We have contracted with two hotels. The rates are much the same as last year. The Convention Plaza has a limited number of rooms, the DoubleTree has 200 plus double queens, however rooms will go fast, so book early.
The Convention Plaza San Jose (formerly the Crowne Plaza)
Starting in 2012, the Convention Plaza (formerly the Crowne Plaza) room-rate for Double-Doubles is $109 (max. 4 persons). Two (2) Complimentary breakfast buffet coupons per room, per night. (additional breakfast coupons may be purchased for $12. each - includes tax) Self parking has been discounted to $5 a day. Room-rates are guaranteed thru the cut-off date of Dec. 30, 2011.
The DoubleTree by Hilton San Jose
The Doubletree Double-Queens room-rate is $119 (max. 4 persons). Tournament room-rates hold for the three nights before and after the tournament dates. They have expanded their offer of a Complimentary American Buffet breakfast coupons to include up to a max. of four (4) coupons per room per night. Self parking is free. High-speed Internet access in the guest rooms is also free. Room-rates are guaranteed thru the cut-off date of Dec. 22, 2011.
