Lady Ducks Fall Classic 2014 Update #2:

Our second game, early Saturday morning, was bogged down by fatigue. The girls came out slowly and were getting beat to most pucks in the first period. After hydrating and discussing strategy during the break, we began to dictate the play with several scoring chances. Tic-tac-toe plays by Stelling, Teft and Burke led to near misses throughout the period.

Each forward line was able to keep play deep in the Anaheim zone which led to 21 shots for the game. Castro had several chances to break through in the second, but was stoned by the goalie. Hawthorne recorded her second shutout with 15 saves, behind a solid defensive effort and hard back-checking.

Lady Ducks Fall Classic 2014 Update:

The Jr. Sharks started off the Lakewood tournament on Friday night vs. the Colorado Selects 19U AA. The first period saw the Sharks control the play, but were unable to put the puck in the net.

The girls came out flying in the second period, with beautiful breakouts that led to sustained fore-checking pressure. This pressure allowed the Sharks to get the puck deep and pressure the net. Takahashi, who was in great position in front of the net, put away a rebound off a shot from Donahue

Cruzal put the game out of reach with a snipe in the third period. Fore-checking pressure from her line mates led Colorado to cough up the puck at their blue line. Angelina picked off a pass and went in alone on net to score.

Hawthorne had her first shutout of the tournament with 10 saves.

Beantown Classic Tournament 2014:

Overall, the team left Boston with a 2-1-1 record. Strong starts in our first two games were tempered by stiff competition in the latter stages of the tournament. Beantown was an amazing experience for our team, including great hockey, team bonding, sightseeing, and college visits. Several of the girls were able to see Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, and UMASS Boston, with locker room visits and talks with college coaches at several of the latter schools.

The coaching staff is extremely proud of the effort, professionalism, and responsibility the girls showed throughout our stay out east.

We look forward to continued hard work, improvement, and fun as the season continues!

Beantown Classic Update #3:

Jr. Sharks quarter final playoff game starts shaky, but team regains composure for a strong second half finish. The all stars from Ontario jumped on the Sharks quickly, scoring on the first shift of the game. After a flurry of goals from the Canadians, the Jr. Sharks needed to regroup. The speed and quickness of Ontario was a good test for our young squad and showed us where we want to be as we continue to develop throughout the season.

The second period saw a recommitted effort from the girls, and we were able to compete hard to leave the ice with our heads held high.

Beantown Classic Update #2:

Jr Sharks score early, come back to tie a gritty team from Buffalo. The girls get another go ahead goal early in the first period after great forechecking and offensive zone pressure. After letting up the tying and go ahead goals in the waning minutes of the first, the Jr. Sharks stayed tough and pulled out a late, game tying goal. Hawthorne strong in net for a second straight game.

Beantown Classic Update:

Sharks score three early goals off of a strong start in game one of Beantown Classic. A relentless, speedy forecheck and excellent passing had the home team running on all cylinders.

NE Pride cut it to 3-1 after the first half, but otherwise, had no sustainable pressure in zone. Breakouts were great and started from a strong showing from the defensive group. Sharks score 4 in the second half to put the game out of reach, with a hat trick for Castro.
