Financial Aid

Members of the Jr. Sharks have TWO opportunities, NORCAL Youth Hockey League and NORCAL Rep, to receive scholarship money for the 2011-2012 season. NORCAL Youth Hockey League is funded and made available to all players in Northern California. NORCAL Rep is a 501 C.3 that is funded by the Jr. Sharks which is only used for Jr. Sharks’ players.

NORCAL Youth Hockey

As directed by the NORCAL Board of Directors, the NORCAL Scholarship Committee will again be considering applications for the possible disbursement/award of Scholarships for the 2011-12 season.

Applicants should pay particular attention to all the REQUIRED information, as omitted materials could be a disqualifying factor.

A list of applicants will be provided to each club president, following the September 30th deadline.

The scholarship committee will meet immediately following the October NORCAL board meeting to review all applications received. All applicants will be notified no later than October 31, 2011 whether they receive any financial assistance or not. 

NORCAL Rep

The Jr. Sharks award financial aid to those who apply through NORCAL Rep. NORCAL Rep is an independent 501 (c) (3) organization that distributes aid to members of the Jr. Sharks for the purposes of covering their fees. All proceeds from the Jr. Sharks’ tryouts are given to NORCAL REP to be redistributed to Jr. Sharks’ members. Additional donations supplement the amount of Financial Aid that is distributed.

Families can apply for financial aid after the teams has been selected.

Recipients typically are notified in late October if they have been awarded aid. The financial aid typically is applied to the December and January Dues payments. Members’ accounts must be kept up to date to be eligible for Financial Aid.
