Jr. Sharks Players Continue to Advance

The Jr. Sharks continue to advance players to the next level and this spring and summer was no different. Players from our Tier program advanced to junior and college hockey this summer. Here is a complete list of players and where they will be going:

Morgan Kelly (18AAA)- Morgan was invited to Wilkes-Barre Scanton Knights Training Camp in August with hopes of cracking their roster. The Knights are in the NAHL. Morgan has played 5 years of AAA hockey.

Will Donald (18AAA)- Will was drafted by the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL) and made their team out of their summer tryout camp. Will has played AAA the past 3 seasons in San Jose after moving here from Washington.

Guillame Bose (18AAA)- Guillame signed a contract with the Northern Cyclones of the NCDC. The NCDC is a new Tier 1 league on the east coast. Guillame has played AAA the past 2 seasons.

Shawn Horner (18AAA)- Shawn signed a contract with the New Hampshire Avalanche of the EHL. The Avalance's Head Coach was previously in Hartford and has sent multiple Jr. Sharks to NCAA Hockey. Shawn has played AAA the past 6 seasons.

Sage Zonner (18AAA)- Sage was accepted to and will be attend Xavier University where he will play club hockey. Sage has played AAA the past 2 seasons.

Matthew Durst (18AAA)- Matthew will be attending Middlebury College on a track scholarship. Matthew spent the last 6 years playing AAA.

Weston Goodman (18AAA)- Weston has offers from multiple Tier 3 teams and hopes to pick a team in the coming weeks. Wes played his first year of AAA this past season after moving to NorCal from So Cal.

Cameron Ward (18AAA)- Cameron will be attending Arizona State University where he hopes to play Club hockey with his brother Aidan. Cameron spent the last 5 years playing AAA.

Jeff Payne (18AAA)- Jeff will be attending Grand Canyon University in the Fall and playing ACHA Hockey. Jeff spent the last 2 seasons playing AAA.

Mark Gaynor (18AAA)- Mark will be attending the University of Colorado Boulder and playing ACHA Club hockey. Mark spent the last 5 years playing AAA hockey.

Salomon Aaberg (18AAA/18AA)- Salomon signed with the Binghamton Jr. Senators in the NA3HL. Salomon came to the Jr. Sharks from Sweden last season and played 1 year of a mixed 18AA and 18AAA schedule.

Jr. Sharks Selected for National Development Camp

The Jr. Sharks are proud to announce that Evelyne Blais-Savoie and Elizabeth Burke have both been selected to attend the 2017 USA Hockey Girls U15 National Development Camp. Blais-Savoie and Burke, both 2002 birth year, will be playing for the Jr. Sharks Girls 19U team for the 2017-18 season.

To be selected to the National Development Camp, players have to advance through the CAHA Select Camp, then the USA Hockey Multi-District Development Camp in Colorado Springs, CO. The Multi-District Camp is comprised of players from the Pacific, Rocky Mountain and Northern Plains Districts.

The 2017 Girls U15 National Development Camp will be held in St. Cloud, Minnesota and is comprised of the top ’02 birth year players from across the country. The camp is a week-long program that provides both on and off ice training including strength and conditioning, nutrition, classroom, etc.

Congratulations to Evelyne and Elizabeth on their great accomplishment. We are extremely excited to have them represent California and the Jr. Sharks program at the national level.

Two Jr. Sharks Advance to USA Hockey National Camp

The Jr. Sharks are proud to announce that Forward Ethan Stibich and Defensemen Jeffrey Lee both have advanced to USA Hockey Select Camp this summer.

Stibich and Lee both played on the Jr. Sharks 16AAA team last season for coach Mike Janda.

In order to be selected to attend the USA Hockey Select Camp, players are required to advance past NorCal Selects, CAHA Selects and Pacific District Selects. Lee, 2002 birth year, is one of 15 skaters to advance to National Camp from the entire Pacific District.. Stibich, 2000 birth year, is one of only 9 skaters to advance. The Pacific District is made up of players from California, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Hawaii.

USA Hockey Select Camp is a week long camp in Amherst, NY. Players will be evaluated by coaches from NCAA Schools, USHL, NAHL and NHL teams.

In addition to Stibich and Lee, Coach Mike Janda will make his third trip to Amherst to work with the best players and coaches the US has to offer. Janda has been to camp the last three summers and worked with multiple NHL Draft picks and NCAA players.

Congratulations to Jeffrey, Ethan and their families on this outstanding accomplishment. Make the Jr. Sharks and NorCal proud!
