2007-1 Win CAHA State Championship

The San Jose Jr. Sharks 2007-1 team is CAHA STATE CHAMPIONS.

The 2007-1 team capped off an impressive season by winning the State Championship, in San Jose, by a score of 4-0, out shooting their opponent 44-9.

Along with the State Championship, the 2007-1 team won Silver Stick Regionals in San Jose, International Silver Stick in Pelham, ONT, and the NorCal Squirt BB Championships.

Congratulations to Coach Barranco, Coach Azevedo, Coach Brown, Coach Nabakov and Coach Nolan on a great season!

Jr. Sharks Enhance Coaching Staff for 2017-18 Season

The San Jose Jr. Sharks are thrilled to announce the addition of 5 new coaches to the Jr. Sharks coaching staff! Nick Cafrelli, Kyle Richardson, Jorge Murillo, Shane Galaviz and Mike Richardson will all be joining the Jr. Sharks Coaching Staff for the 2017-18 Season. The Jr. Sharks continue to strive to be the premier organization in Northern California, as our players continue to grow in numbers, we want to give them the coaches and tools they need to develop.

Nick Cafrelli will join the Jr. Sharks as the main Goalie Coach. Nick’s focuses will primarily be with the AAA and AA goalies, while teaching and educating other goalie coaches to work with our Travel level goaltenders. Nick grew up playing for the Jr. Sharks before moving to the East Coast for Junior Hockey.  Nick played 4 years are Farmingham State, a NCAA Division 3 School. Nick will also be available for private goaltending training.

Kyle Richardson joins the Jr. Sharks as the Boys 14AA coach. Kyle played for the Jr. Sharks from Mites to Bantam AAA. After Bantam, Kyle moved from California and played Junior hockey in the NAHL and the EJHL. Kyle played NCAA Division 1 hockey at Wayne State in Michigan for 1 year and played NCAA Division 3 at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Jorge Murillo joins the Jr. Sharks as the 16AA Head Coach and AAA Assistant Coach. Jorge has been with the Santa Clara Blackhawks for the past 7 seasons and comes to the Jr. Sharks with motivations to coach at the AAA level. Jorge has been successful at the AA level and looks forward to contributing at all levels with the Jr. Sharks.

Shane Galaviz comes to the Jr. Sharks from Southern California. In So Cal, Shane spent years working with the Rinks adult programs, high school programs and coaching Jr. Ducks teams. Shane has a passion for coaching and teaching hockey in any capacity that he can. In his first season with the Jr. Sharks, Shane will head our 18AA team.

Mike Richardson comes to the Jr. Sharks from the Billings Bulls of the NA3HL. Mike grew up in the Bay Area and returns home to Head Coach 18AAA and Assistant Coach 16AAA with Mike Janda. Mike has spent 5 years in the junior industry as a head coach in the NA3HL and an assistant coach in the NAHL. Mike has an extensive network of coaches that he will be able to use when helping our players move on to junior hockey. Mike and Mike Janda will work together to promote and develop the 16AAA and 18AAA players for junior hockey.

Kyle McLaren will transition to a defensive skills coach. Kyle’s responsibilities will be to assist the 16AAA and 18AAA teams, as well as work with all the Tier teams. His primary goal will be to develop the defensemen in the Jr. Sharks program.

“The Jr. Sharks and Northern California are becoming a region of the country and California that people are starting to notice,” said Jr. Sharks Director of Coaches Mike Janda.  “As a club, our coaching staff is a priority for the development of our players. We recognize the need for experienced coaches who can help develop our players and grow the love of the game. I am excited to add Nick, Kyle, Jorge and Mike. All of them will be essential pieces of our club moving forward.”
