Jr Sharks Girls Win Western Regional Silver Stick Tournament

Girls High School & 12U-1 teams See Success at Silver Sticks

The Jr Sharks Girls High School team and the Girls 12U-1 team both earned championship titles at the recent Western Regional Girls Silver Stick Tournament at Ice Center at the Promenade in Westminster, CO.

The Girls 12U-1 team steamrolled through the tournament scoring 26 goals in six games and only allowing one, 5 on 3 Powerplay goal against. The Sharks beat the Colorado Lady Roughriders handedly in a 4 -1 victory in the championship game, going undefeated in the tournament.

The Girls High School team had a great start to the tournament with a solid 6-2 win over Steamboat Springs 19U-A team. They faced some adversity in the games to follow, but were able to secure their spot in the championship game. The final game was a close battle between the teams, but the Sharks were able to get the 1-0 win over Steamboat Springs yet again.

Great work by all the players and coaches during the tournament. Congratulations to both teams on their championship wins!

Jr Sharks House League 2017-18 Winter Season

Registration In Full Swing

Registration for the Jr Sharks House League 2017-18 Winter Season is in full swing! The JSHL will be fielding teams in five age divisions; 6U/Mini-Mite, 8U/Mite, 10U/Squirt, 12U/Pee Wee and 14U/Bantam. The goal of the program is to not only develop a players' hockey skills, but to create an environment where Bay Area youth can learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, good sportsmanship, positive attitude, and good work ethic. Below you will find a link to the JSHL homepage as well as a link to the registration portal.

Evaluation schedules and group assignments are not given out until online registration is completed. Your player(s) evaluation schedule and group assignment will be posted on the last page of registration after completing checkout.  Additionally, links to the evaluation schedules are available for your convenience on the email receipt you receive after completing registration.

Please have your player attend as many of the evaluation sessions as possible. It is important that we get an accurate read on your players' skill level in order to properly place them and draft teams.

Players are not allowed to switch evaluation groups. They are only to attend sessions for the group they are assigned to.

Here are a few important dates for the first part of the season:

  • Friday, September 8th: Kickoff Party, 5:30-7:45pm, North Rink. Attendance to the party is not mandatory.
  • Week of September 11th-15th: Winter Season begins with on-ice evaluations
  • Saturday, September 30th: Last day of evaluations
  • Sunday, October 1st - Sunday, October 8th: Break for drafting of teams. There will be no on-ice activities during this time.
  • Week of October 9th-13th: Week of first team practices

Jr. Sharks Players Continue to Advance

The Jr. Sharks continue to advance players to the next level and this spring and summer was no different. Players from our Tier program advanced to junior and college hockey this summer. Here is a complete list of players and where they will be going:

Morgan Kelly (18AAA)- Morgan was invited to Wilkes-Barre Scanton Knights Training Camp in August with hopes of cracking their roster. The Knights are in the NAHL. Morgan has played 5 years of AAA hockey.

Will Donald (18AAA)- Will was drafted by the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL) and made their team out of their summer tryout camp. Will has played AAA the past 3 seasons in San Jose after moving here from Washington.

Guillame Bose (18AAA)- Guillame signed a contract with the Northern Cyclones of the NCDC. The NCDC is a new Tier 1 league on the east coast. Guillame has played AAA the past 2 seasons.

Shawn Horner (18AAA)- Shawn signed a contract with the New Hampshire Avalanche of the EHL. The Avalance's Head Coach was previously in Hartford and has sent multiple Jr. Sharks to NCAA Hockey. Shawn has played AAA the past 6 seasons.

Sage Zonner (18AAA)- Sage was accepted to and will be attend Xavier University where he will play club hockey. Sage has played AAA the past 2 seasons.

Matthew Durst (18AAA)- Matthew will be attending Middlebury College on a track scholarship. Matthew spent the last 6 years playing AAA.

Weston Goodman (18AAA)- Weston has offers from multiple Tier 3 teams and hopes to pick a team in the coming weeks. Wes played his first year of AAA this past season after moving to NorCal from So Cal.

Cameron Ward (18AAA)- Cameron will be attending Arizona State University where he hopes to play Club hockey with his brother Aidan. Cameron spent the last 5 years playing AAA.

Jeff Payne (18AAA)- Jeff will be attending Grand Canyon University in the Fall and playing ACHA Hockey. Jeff spent the last 2 seasons playing AAA.

Mark Gaynor (18AAA)- Mark will be attending the University of Colorado Boulder and playing ACHA Club hockey. Mark spent the last 5 years playing AAA hockey.

Salomon Aaberg (18AAA/18AA)- Salomon signed with the Binghamton Jr. Senators in the NA3HL. Salomon came to the Jr. Sharks from Sweden last season and played 1 year of a mixed 18AA and 18AAA schedule.
