San Jose Jr. Sharks alumni keep moving up! Former Jr. Sharks goaltender, Devin Cooley ('97), will start the Season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League (USHL).

Last season, Cooley played for the Jr. Sharks 18AAA team, finishing with a 2.39 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. The year prior, he played for the 16AAA team finishing with an 8-1 record in the NAPHL and earning all-team honors. Midway through last season, Cooley signed a tender with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).

Cooley began this season with the Jr. Blues before getting called up by Muskegon this past weekend. In his first start with the Lumberjacks, despite being out shot 31-21, Cooley had 27 saves in a 5-4 win over the USA National Development U18 team.

Cooley is 1 of 2 goalies on the roster right now in Muskegon and hopes to be a mainstay in net all year.

Cooley is a great example of a player who spent his entire youth playing career in the Sharks Ice and Jr. Sharks program. He began playing in the Sharks Ice House League as a Mini-Mite and continued to work his way up until making AAA his Bantam Major year and playing his final 4 seasons at the AAA level.

The USHL is the premier Junior Hockey League in the United States and is currently the only Tier 1 League. The USHL currently has 251 alumni playing in the NHL and 375 NCAA college commitments.

The Jr. Sharks would like to congratulate and wish the best of luck in the 2015-16 season to Devin and his family!
